I promised more work stories, and it's time to deliver...
So, I pretty much work for one of the most fun companies possible I think. My sister Caroline listens to my stories of the things I get to do and tells me, "See Alison - you still don't have a real job. You have too much fun!" To which I usually reply, "I may live in my own little world, but I like it here!" :)
But I digress... The point is that at my new job out here in Charlotte, we actually have a spirit committee that plans monthly events to keep things fun. It's kind of like high school, just everybody is older now and we know we're not as cool as we think we are. But it is fun. And for the month of June, we actually have weekly events instead of just monthly. Last week we had a bingo day where we got bingo cards and highlighters in the morning and numbers were e-mailed to us all day long. I didn't win, but it was fun anyway.
Today was 70's Day! We had a costume contest and the prizes were a paid day off of work and a new iPod. I borrowed my outfit from Laura & Sacha's sister-in-law (thanks Meg!) and actually got compliments on it (believe it or not!) I was mostly just embarrassed and felt like I'd stepped right out of an Austin Powers movie! The best part however was when a few of my co-workers tried to tell me that my dress was more 60's than 70's to which I replied, "I wouldn't know. I wasn't alive for either of those decades." Yep, I got them pretty good with that one! :)
Enjoy these few pics. They're mainly for Barak to see my new style since he left for India! :)
Oh, and by the way... I must have made some sort of impression because I was added to the Spirit committee last week! I'm thinking there might be a CA beach party on the horizon now...
